Located right on the water in Reaume Park, Cooleez Ice Cream Parlour offers sweet treats with a sweet view.
The establishment is a kiosk, previously owned by the city but is now privately owned by Brenda Jones, that offers a large variety of ice cream and snacks. There is limited seating, but the location is in a great area to take a walk in with a snack in hand.
Brenda, who has owned the establishment for eight years after a previous private owner, takes pride in creating new items and bringing treats to the area that are enjoyed by those who come by.
All types of soft and hard ice cream are available at Cooleez, including specialty creations, gluten-free cones and dairy free sorbets selections. Cooleez also offers various specialty cones such as cookie dough flavoured.
Brenda brings in supplies from as far as Edmonton, and has brought in mini donuts with dip for a treat this year. There are 32 selections of hard ice cream this season, and vanilla, chocolate or half-and-half for soft serve. Soft serve ice cream can also be dipped in chocolate, peanut, coconut and Jolly Rancher pieces.
She also offers flavour bursts for the soft serve ice cream, adding a unique twist to the treat in both taste and colour. Options for flavour bursts include orange creamsicle, bubble gum and mocha cappuccino.
Specialty selections in ice cream include banana splits, hot fudge brownie delights, turtle sundaes and lemon gelato. She often makes special specialty creations for special occasions as well, filling up customer’s cups to the brim.
Cooleez also offers slushies, which are a popular option to take on a walk down the river front. Flavours include strawberry, orange, blue respberry, and new this year is the option to add Jolly Rancher pieces to the top of the cool treat. A selection of drinks is also available for purchase including pop and lemonade.
While there are many chilly treats to enjoy, Cooleez offers a variety of hot foods as well such as hot dogs, nachos and pretzels.
Cooleez celebrates many occasions throughout its season with specialty products and festivities, including free face painting and a clown on Canada Day.
Cooleez Ice Cream Parlour starts its season on the first of May and closes on Thanksgiving weekend. Visit and enjoy a snack along the river front at 4714 Riverside Dr. E in Reaume Park. They are open daily from 12:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
