Windsor Firefighters responded to the 800 block of Howard Avenue (where Howard becomes Glengarry and Aylmer) around 1pm and found heavy smoke billowing from the roof of a brick house.
Crews worked to attack the fire for several minutes as it grew, producing more smoke.
Firefighters set up two aerial trucks to fight the fire which took several hours to bring under control.
Fire crews were able to enter the structure once the fire was out and retrieved sacred native artifacts and have turned them over to the home owner.
The fire also damaged neighboring residences at 810 and 820-824.
There are no injuries reported at this time.
An investigator has been called to the scene.
