Plans to close Sunset Avenue by the University of Windsor have been put on hold until the city re-constructs California Avenue.
Last year, the University announced as part of their Campus Transformation Plan, Sunset would close between Wyandotte and Fanchette Avenue, making the campus safer to students.
After a recent meeting with the University and the City, the University requested that California between University and Wyandote be re-constructed before this closure took place. California would become the major route on campus for vehicles, and its current state it would not be able to handle the extra traffic.
The city had already planned for Sunset to be reconstructed between Wyandotte and Union, and now that money will be used for California pending council approval.
The redone California Avenue includes a stoplight at University Avenue.
Sunset between Wyandotte and Fanchette is now slated to close in the Fall of 2014.
