Firefighters promptly extinguished a blaze on Hall Avenue on the fringes of Walkerville shortly after eleven Friday night.
The fire, which started in the basement of a single family dwelling near Wyandotte, took mere minutes to be put out.
A half-dozen fire vehicles were on scene as many onlookers curiously questioned what was going on in their neighbourhood.
Firefighters report that no one was injured, and a family of four is now under the care of the Red Cross while the cause of the blaze is determined.
