As part of this year’s Migration Festival which runs October 19th to 21st, the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation is holding a bird feeder competition where local builders can showcase their design talents!
As the weather gets cooler and winter approaches, many birds have a harder time locating seeds and other grains for their diets, so keeping this in mind, the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation is holding a bird feeder competition to help provide local birds with greater access to food during the fall and winter months.
Participants are encouraged to submit an original, handmade bird feeder in whatever design and style they choose by October 15th, 2012. A single winner will be chosen based on creativity and craftsmanship in both youth (under 19 years of age) and adult categories.
The prizes for the winning bird feeder in each category will be:
- Youth (19 and under): A copy of the book Wild Goose Jack, a documentary DVD chronicling the life of Jack Miner, a 2012 commemorative goose band, and an official Jack Miner baseball cap.
- Adult: Two (2) tickets to the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation cocktail party fundraiser taking place Saturday, October 20th at the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary. ($100 value)
All submitted bird feeders will be used throughout the Sanctuary after the contest has ended.
