Fall is slowly but surely settling in to Windsor Essex, the kids are back to their school routines and Essex County produce is ready to be harvested! There is no shortage of fun fall events for everyone to enjoy and we’ve created a downloadable guide for you to use as a checklist to make sure you don’t miss a moment of delicious, fresh fun in the region! We’ve highlighted a few of the events featured in our Fall Event Guide to give you a taste of what Windsor Essex has in store for you as we head into the Holiday Season, take a look – we’re sure there is something for everyone!
Fall Fun Events
AMHERSTBURG UNCOMMON FESTIVAL, SEPTEMBER 15TH TO 17TH
One of the most anticipated events of the year! Dress up in your favourite wizardry or steampunk cosplay costume and enjoy buskers, live performances, games at this FREE event in downtown Amherstburg.
FESTIVAL OF HAWKS, SEPTEMBER 16TH AND 17TH
Join ERCA and the Holiday Beach Migration Observatory for hikes, workshops, hands on activities and much more at Holiday Beach Conservation Area, identified as one of the top locations in all of North America for raptor watching.
SCAREHOUSE WINDSOR, SEPTEMBER 15TH TO OCTOBER 31ST
Scarehouse Windsor presents the only “stay dry” indoor haunted attraction in the region! There are several spooky attractions including the new Mirror Maze and Deadway Bar and Kill and for an extra-spooky night you can enjoy a VIP private themed Immersive Dinner Experience!
FREE FOR ALL WALLS, OCTOBER 3RD TO 10TH
FREE FOR ALL WALLS is a unique platform that brings together artists from diverse backgrounds to transform the city’s walls into stunning works of art. PART ART PART PARTY is the signature event of the festival which has helped to fund over 50 murals in Windsor to date and will include a live art battle, art exhibition, live music and unique vendors.
ART AT THE OTENTIKS, OCTOBER 15TH AND 16TH
Take a walk through Camp Henry oTENTik village and visit local artisans at work. Entrance to the show is included with your Point Pelee National Park admission. Shop the vendor marketplace, see artisans at work, enjoy entertainment throughout the weekend, you can even create your own piece of art to take home!
KINGSVILLE MIGRATION FALL FESTIVAL, OCTOBER 19TH TO 22ND
This year marks the 54th annual Migration Fall Festival weekend! Kingsville welcomes the community to a celebration of migration, heritage, nature conservation and Jack Miner. Events include the Great Migration Kick Off Party, the Great Migration Paint Out, parade, children’s activities, Migration Festival Marketplace, bike tours and more.
WINDSOR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, OCTOBER 25TH TO NOVEMBER 5TH
WIFF returns for another unparalleled year of cinematic greatness celebrating the art of cinema by showcasing Canadian and international film and filmmakers. 299 Queen Street West will be presented as the Closing Night film, diving into the origins and cultural impact that MuchMusic had on its viewers and artists. Full schedule will be released in early October.
BELLE RIVER STROLL THE STREETS, OCTOBER 13TH AND NOVEMBER 17TH
Stroll the Street is an upbeat experience geared to all ages, bringing people and local businesses safely together for food, fun activities, shopping and entertainment! A great opportunity to slow down, visit with friends and family and enjoy all that Belle River has to offer!
LASALLE NIGHT MARKET, SEPTEMBER 24TH
Enjoy live music, talented local artisan and crafter vendors, farm-to-table local produce and delicious food vendors at the LaSalle Night Market, the last market of the fall season takes place at the LaSalle Event Centre from 4pm to 8pm, admission is free! Holiday Markets will start up in November, mark your calendar for holiday shopping!
WALKERVILLE DISTILLERY DISTRICT NIGHT MARKET, SEPTEMBER 29TH
This outdoor market takes place on Argyle Road in front of the Walkerville Brewery. A community event to bring people together to celebrate art, entertainment, food, drink and all things LOCAL. Shop local artisans and makers, eat delicious bites, sip libations, enjoy live entertainment and play fun outdoor games and activities. Free to attend and all ages welcome!
