With over 100 million record sales, 36 Top 40 hits, primetime TV shows, countless Las Vegas residences, and a string of Grammy, Ivor Novello, and Brit Awards, Tom Jones’ illustrious career spans over five incredible decades. Jones is celebrated for his hits including, “It’s Not Unusual,” “What’s New Pussycat,” “Delilah,” “If I Only Knew” and “Sex Bomb.” He has remained a vital recording artist and has sustained success with popular albums including best-selling Reload, Delilah, 24 Hours, and Praise & Blame. Now, with his newest record, Surrounded By Time, Tom is back to further extend his legacy.

Having recorded three hugely acclaimed albums together, Tom Jones once again teamed up with producer Ethan Johns for his latest release, Surrounded By Time. The record sees Tom revisit songs he had set aside for decades, waiting to reach an age at which he would truly be able to do them justice. The album’s lead single, “Talking Reality Television Blues” is over six minutes long and addresses the pernicious effect of reality television on the reality it purports to represent. Continuing to bring new life to tracks he had been waiting on, Tom tackled Bob Dylan’s “One More Cup of Coffee” with the correct blend of bitter experience and careworn playfulness. For Cat Stevens’ “Pop Star,” Jones recounts the intoxicating head rush of first fame. Another inclusion is Tony Joe White’s “Ol’ Mother Earth,” where Tom handles the vocals like a seasoned actor, trying to make sense of the senseless devastation portended by the original lyrics.
