The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board has dismissed 37 students from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Windsor after receiving notification of a confirmed case of COVID-19 there.
The board says 14 students were in one cohort and 23 students were in another.
The board says they learned of the confirmed case Friday afternoon and notified the affected students that they are not to attend school on Monday.
“We have been working with the health unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected,” said Stephen Fields, school board communications coordinator. “The health unit is contacting any individuals, both students and staff, who may have been affected, and will give directions for them to follow.”
Fields says a voice message was sent to the school community Friday afternoon to reassure parents that if they have not been contacted by the health unit, they have not been identified as close contacts and their children may continue attending school as usual.
