Duncan Davies is the new Chief of Police with the LaSalle Police Service effective August 1st, 2021.

“After a thorough recruitment process, we are confident that Duncan Davies has the experience and expertise that the LaSalle Police Services Board was seeking,” said Mayor Bondy. “Chief Davies has been an integral part of the LaSalle Police Service for 25 years. We are certain that he will serve the residents with the same commitment and professionalism he has demonstrated in his positions leading up to this point.

Early in his career, Davies took on the designation of Administrator of the Service’s Records Management System. For the last 23 years, he was responsible for tailoring and managing the software to meet the needs of the Service including police reporting and time management. He was instrumental in the development, organization and revision of numerous legislated policies and procedures.

In 2000, Davies received an Honourable Mention for the National Police Award for Traffic Safety for creating the idea of reflective armbands given to all local school children to make them visible at night. In 2017, Davies received the Police Exemplary Service Medal on behalf of the Governor General of Canada for having completed 20 years of full-time exemplary police service.

Over the course of his career, Davies has received extensive police related training. He is a graduate of the University of Windsor with a Certificate in Criminology and Criminal Justice and has completed the International Association of Chiefs of Police – Leadership in Police Organizations course.

“I have always considered myself fortunate to be employed by the Town of LaSalle in service to the community. For me, the policing profession goes beyond a job – it is truly a “calling” doing what is right and leading by example. I believe that it is essential for the right person to be in the right place at the right time to do the right thing for the right reason,” said Davies. “I am very thankful to the LaSalle Police Services Board for their confidence and ongoing support in choosing me to lead the fine members of the Service as we effectively interact with one another in resolving conflict, building bridges and improving relationships while navigating our current and future challenges together.”

The LaSalle Police Services Board is honoured and welcomes Duncan Davies as LaSalle’s new Chief of Police.
