31 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Sunday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 31 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Sunday, bringing the local total to 13,595.
Today’s New Cases
Cases increased from 13,564 on Saturday March 20th to 13,595 on Sunday March 21st and 293 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 2 cases are outbreak related, 18 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 3 cases are community acquired, 1 case is travel-related outside of North America, and 7 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:
- 39,102 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+1,615 since yesterday)
- 12,058 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+123 since yesterday)
- A total of 63,218 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+1,681 since yesterday)
How To Get A Vaccine
There are two vaccination programs for different age groups at the moment:
- People 75 years of age and older
- Vaccination booking will be available starting Tuesday.
- People aged 60 to 64 (AstraZeneca)
- If you’re aged 60-64, you can get a vaccine at a participating pharmacy.

Resolved Cases
The Health Unit lists 12,901 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 18 resolved cases today.
Deaths
There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 401.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 21 hospitalizations today: 16 people in acute care, and 5 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
