A contractor has been selected and construction on the new Catholic Central High School should begin very soon.
Tuesday evening, Board Trustees passed a motion approving Oscar Construction Company Limited to build the new school. With a bid of approximately $26.7 million, Oscar was the successful bidder of the five prequalified contractors to bid on the work.
“Oscar has a proven track record of quality construction projects for our Board and we’re confident that they will build a wonderful new school for our students, our staff and our Catholic Central community,” said Terry Lyons, Director of Education.
Oscar will work with +VG Architects, which was hired by the Board in January of 2020 and has extensive experience designing innovative schools throughout Ontario.
The new school will be built on an 11-acre piece of property between Ouellette Avenue and McDougall, less than a kilometer south of its present location on Tecumseh Road East.
The Board anticipates opening the school for the 2022-23 school year and Oscar has committed to completing the project on time.
