9 New Deaths, 14 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 14 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday, bringing the local total to 12,696.
Today’s New Cases
Cases increased from 12,682 on Wednesday February 17th to 12,696 on Thursday February 18th and 304 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 3 cases are outbreak-related, 1 cases is a close contact of a confirmed case, and 10 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:
- 1,844 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (-347 today)
- 10,247 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+359 today)
- A total of 22,338 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+371 today)
Resolved Cases
The Health Unit lists 12,028 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 29 resolved cases today.
Deaths
The Health Unit announced 9 additional deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 364.
They say:
- 6 deaths are from the community
- a man in his 60s
- a man in his 70s
- three men in their 80s
- a man in his 90s
- 3 deaths are from long-term care and retirement homes
- a man in his 80s
- a man and a woman in their 90s
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 40 hospitalizations today: 33 people in acute care, and 7 people in the ICU (3 less today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
