The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Watch for the area.

Some areas across the Essex Region have received 40 to 50 mm of rainfall in the early morning hours and forecasts indicate that rainfall may continue in some areas and reach up to 75 mm before noon today.

They say that watercourses are anticipated to swell and potentially spill into low lying lands today. Areas with poor drainage or that are being impacted by the high lake levels may be impacted by this rainfall event.

Forecasts are also predicting strong southwest winds starting late Friday night, early Saturday morning with sustained speeds above 35 km/hr and gusts near 50 km/hr for the duration of Saturday morning.

There is a potential for wave overtopping and splashing along the Lake Erie Shoreline from Amherstburg to Leamington and the west shoreline of Pelee Island. These conditions may also increase erosion along the Lake Erie shoreline including Pelee Island.
