Construction is set to begin on the new 6,500 square foot addition to the Optimist Centre for the new branch of the Windsor Public Library.
The total cost is estimated at $2,463,000 and includes a new shared entrance/lobby with the community centre, a library reception area, a kitchenette, new washrooms, a space designated for the general collection of approximately 30,000 volumes, and lounge area.
There will also be a new asphalt parking lot, improved exterior lighting, an outdoor patio area, asphalt sports court, bicycle parking and new landscaping.
In mid October De Angelis / Fortis will demolish the small concession building, strip the site and begin to prepare for the foundation work with a breaking ceremony is being planned for late October.
Construction is expected to take 11 to 12 months to complete and six weeks for the new facility to be commissioned by library, with opening day expected to be in January 2018.
