New Community Pool Officially Opens In Lakeshore

The Town of Lakeshore officially celebrated the opening of the new WFCU Community Pool & Splashpad at the Atlas Tube Centre Saturday morning.
On hand for the celebration was Capital Campaign Chairs, Stephanie & Barrie Zekelman, Eddie Francis, President of Windsor Family Credit Union and Lakeshore’s Mayor Tom Bain, and Council.
The new aquatic centre completes Phase II of the Atlas Tube Centre and contains a 25m lap pool, recreational pool, lazy river and therapeutic pool along with a viewing area and party room. Large sliding doors open to a Splashpad overlooking the soccer fields outside.
Mayor Tom Bain stated “Opening of the WFCU Community Pools & Splashpad brings to Lakeshore the pool the community has always wanted for so long. This is a great day for Lakeshore.”
The Town of Lakeshore`s Windsor Family Credit Union Community Pool is made possible with a $17.3 million grant from the Federal Government of Canada, $17.3 million grant from the Provincial Government and generous support from Windsor Family Credit Union.
Also featured in Phase II is new tennis and basketball courts, in addition to a 5km multi-use trail.
