Nature’s Touch Organic Berry Cherry Blend frozen berries that were recalled last week because of possible hepatitis A contamination were sold at Costco’s Windsor location, but the heath unit said Thursdays that there are no local cases.
Dr. Gary Kirk, Medical Officer of Health and CEO for the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit said that they are working closely with the local Costco, Health Care providers, day care nurseries, and long-term care facilities to ensure that members of the public, who may have consumed Nature’s Touch Organic Berry Cherry Blend frozen berries sold at Costco, get treatment to try to prevent Hepatitis A within 14 days of consumption of the product.
“We are fortunate that to date, there have been no confirmed cases of Hepatitis A in Windsor-Essex County related to this food recall warning. The Health Unit is actively monitoring the situation and working closely with our partners. We are urging all area residents who may have ingested this product within the past 14 days, to contact their primary health care providers for additional direction. This is especially true for those from vulnerable populations, such as young children and the elderly. If anyone has served or given this product to others, we ask that they reach out to those individuals and ask them to also seek medical attention,” said Kirk.
