Windsor City council will be asked to approve a Requests For Proposals for the operation of the concession operations at Adie Knox Herman Arena, Forest Glade Arena, South Windsor Recreation Complex, WFCU Centre community rinks and the Windsor Intemational Aquatic and Training Centre.

Currently food services at these locations with the exception of AIie Knox are provided by the city, and the WFCU centre main bowl concessions are operated by ovations Food Services with Charles Clark Square, John Ivan Slow-pitch area at Mic Mac, and Reaume Park are all operated by third party service providers.

At one time concession services at Adie Knox was provided by the city as well, but the report to council says that retums did not support continuing the business, the concessions were closed. Vending machines were installed to provide at least some snack options for patrons, but users expressed
their desire for the return of the concessions. The City offered the opportunity to operate the concession to the minor associations using the facility, without success.

A city administration report says that upon reviewing the budget impact of concession operations, administration began discussions relative to the issuance of an RFP for the service to determine what options might exist for the City.

Currently, the city employs approximately twenty (20) Non-Union Part Time Concession staff who work a maximum of 24 hours per week at a rate of $11.25 per hour. Some of these Concession staff also work as Skate Patrollers for the City at various Arenas.

They city says that as these staff are non-union and part-time, they are not afforded job security within the Corporation and therefore would be terminated should concession operations move to a third party provider.

The report for approval goes to council on February 1st 2016.
