Hotlines have been set up for students and staff who are looking for answers after Thursdays shut down of Everest College.
Students can contact officials from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, who are on standby at 416-314-0500, or toll-free at 1-866-330-3395.
Staff of Everest College can call the Employment Ontario hotline at 1-800-387-5656 for assistance.
Ministry officials say they “will be on the ground until they are sure they have reached as many students as possible.”
Students may also be able to receive financial help. Under law, the maximum amount of money available to the Superintendent to fund students’ training completions and refunds in this situation is $3 million.
The $3 million will be used to pay for training completions or refunds for students who were enrolled in an approved vocational program at the time of Everest College’s suspension.
Officials say that one of the main priorities during this process is to ensure that students are provided with training completion options that will allow them to promptly complete their programs, with as little disruption as possible.
