Museum Expansion Construction Starts

The City of Windsor kicked off the construction of the museum expansion on Friday.
Oscar Construction Company Limited as the successful proponent for the construction tender portion of the project. Total costs for the museum expansion project are $6.2 million.
Construction will begin soon and is expected to last until October 2015.
The new museum space will be located on the main floor of 401 Riverside Drive West. The Art Gallery of Windsor will continue to operate on the second and third floors of the building.
Highlights of the expansion project plans include a new, permanent, engaging exhibit on Windsor, animation of the Concourse to include exhibition/programming space and an Aboriginal Gallery, a new Children’s Gallery with dynamic exhibits and interactivity and development of temporary exhibit/programming space.
The city says that the expansion into 401 Riverside will also allow for improvements to Windsor’s current museum space at the Francois Baby House
