Children at the John McGivney Children’s Centre met batman and had an awesome, second last day of school.
“Today was super heros fun day,” said director of development Ilona Schentag. “It’s the second last day of school, so all of our school children and preschool children came together and we used a super hero theme today because we have our event coming up.”
Batman visited dozens of children, exchanged hugs and high fives and brought smiles all throughout the building.
The event Schentag spoke about is called the Superheroes Run, a five kilometer adventure run taking place Saturday September 27th at Malden Park with activities and some obstacles along the way.
Event organizer Jason Charbonneau said the run is meant for parents, children, people of all ages, and even wheelchair participants who will be able to use a one kilometer, fully accessible course with actives along the day.
Schentag said proceeds from the run greatly support the centre, which focuses on supporting children with disabilities. “Our programs include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, augmentative communication therapy, we have an autism program and we also have a preschool and a school.”
