The Ontario Summer Games will be in Windsor August 7th to 10th and the City of Windsor needs your help.
“These games will shine a spotlight on our city when some of the best athletes from across the province will be here”, and that’s why we need the very best ambassadors for our city to come forward and volunteer”, said Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis
Green Shield is one of many businesses stepping forward with staff to volunteer, but there is plenty of room for more.
“We’d love to see a business challenge,” said Games General Manager Michael Chantler. “Green Shield has stepped up; who else has staff to come forward and help our community?”
A team of 750 volunteers, 14 years of age or older, are asked to commit to a minimum 6-hour shift during the games. Accreditation, training, orientation and recognition will be offered to ensure volunteers are ready for a fantastic experience.
The Games get a boost of excitement next weekend when Bigg Wiggle will rock the Riverside Sportsmen Club Tent on June 28th. The 6th annual “Wigglefest” will be an evening of live entertainment and BBQ in a casual outdoor atmosphere. This fundraiser provides an opportunity for the band to entertain “big kids” with all proceeds to benefit the Windsor 2014 Ontario Summer Games. The band is best known for performing the greatest hits from the 80’s on thru to the top 40 of today.
