The effects of our historically harsh winter continue to linger.

The city says that all municipal sports fields remain out-of-bounds for team play. Baseball diamonds are scheduled to officially open on May 1st while soccer fields on May 15th weather permitting.

Parks and Recreation says that they always limit access to the fields in early spring to allow the grass to re-establish itself after winter. In early spring, the turf is young and very tender and highly susceptible to damage, especially after a winter like this year.

For questions about specific sport fields, they city says that you can call Linda McLeod, Seasonal and Sport Facilitator, at 519-253-2300 ext. 2714.
