Windsor Fire and Rescue Services are in the final pre-construction stages, preparing to replace the very dated Station 7 located out on Lauzon Road.
Designed by Norr Architects, the station is registered on the Canada Green Building Council as LEED projects, which means it will feature many environmentally friendly features.
Bidding just closed and tenders were opened on February 23, 2011 at City Hall. The lowest tender was by Piroli Construction for $2,553,149.00. A total of 12 construction firms bid on the project. The tender will now go to council for approval.
Ground breaking is set for this year and fire trucks will be pulling out of it by mid 2012.
