The Town of Tecumseh is celebrating after being named the 2014 “Best Festival City” by Festivals and Events Ontario.
The award, given to a city with a population under 200,000, was accepted on Saturday, March 1st by Deputy Mayor Cheryl Hardcastle.
“We have an impressive team of volunteers and partners that are so deserving of this recognition and we are honored that an esteemed entity – Festivals and Events Ontario – is awarding the Town of Tecumseh,” said Hardcastle.
Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara was thrilled to receive the award. “It is such an honour for the Town to be recognized by FEO with the inaugural ‘Best Festival City’ Municipal Award. This award reflects on the incredible enthusiasm of our many volunteers and community organizations, as well as the commitment of Council and our Parks and Recreation staff to providing outstanding opportunities for festivals and events in Tecumseh.”
The Town’s festivals were also recognized by the FEO for excellence. The Tecumseh Corn Festival received the 2014 “Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario” Award. In 2013, both the Tecumseh Corn Festival and Art of Eating Festival were recognized as Top 100 Festivals.
