The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 60 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.
Total Cases & Active Cases
Total overall cases increased from 39,065 on Monday, March 21st to 39,125 on Tuesday, March 22nd.
There are 242 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 14 active cases since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).
- 356,137 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+43 since yesterday)
- 343,246 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+77 since yesterday)
- 191,743 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+91 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 86.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 83.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 50.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths
The Health Unit announced two additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 591. They say a woman in her 40s from the community passed away, and a woman in her 70s from the community passed away.

The Health Unit lists 23 hospitalizations today (decrease of 1), and 2 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU.

- Under outbreak since March 17th, 2022

- Windsor Regional officials said in a news release that a visitor visited a patient in the hospital and removed their mask while with them. The visitor later tested positive for COVID-19 and unfortunately passed on the infection to two patients in the same room, leading to an outbreak declaration for the 8 East floor at the Ouellette Campus.
