Environment Canada has upgraded the winter storm watch to a winter storm warning for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
They say rain showers tonight will transition to snow by Wednesday morning.
Snow, heavy at times, is expected Wednesday and Thursday before easing Thursday night. Snowfall rates may reach up to 2 cm per hour at times.
Total snowfall accumulations of 20 to 30 cm (7.8 inches to 11.8 inches) are expected by Thursday night.
The storm is also expected to bring gusty winds from 50 to 60 km/h.
They say rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.
