Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 44 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 22 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 7 cases are community acquired, 3 cases are outbreak related, and the acquisition sources of 13 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 22,850 on Monday December 13th to 22,894 on Tuesday December 14th

There are 597 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 24 since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):

  • 340,456 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+274 since yesterday)
    • 20,230 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+47 since yesterday)
    • 320,226 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+227 since yesterday)
    • 53,753 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+3,769 since yesterday)
  • A total of 714,435 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+4,270 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 77.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 82.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 73.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 77.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 12.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.8 per cent since yesterday)

Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 21,815 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 65 resolved cases since yesterday.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced three additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 482. They say a woman in her 20’s from the community, a man in his 60’s from the community, and a man in his 70’s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 34 hospitalizations today: 20 people in acute care, and 14 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
