Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 54 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 28 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 15 cases are community acquired, 2 cases are travel related, and the acquisition sources of 9 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 21,374 on Wednesday November 24th to 21,428 on Thursday November 25th.

They say 392 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 18 since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):

  • 329,237 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+164 since yesterday)
    • 13,065 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (-94 since yesterday)
    • 316,172 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+258 since yesterday)
    • 18,277 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+1,670 since yesterday)
  • A total of 663,686 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+2,092 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 75.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 86.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 72.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 83.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 4.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.3 per cent since yesterday)

Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

The Health Unit lists 20,565 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 35 resolved cases since yesterday.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 471. They say a man in his 60s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 23 hospitalizations today: 18 people in acute care, and 5 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
