The swimmer reported missing in Lake Erie on Saturday, August 28th, 2021, has been recovered.
OPP says that around 1:40 pm Saturday, they responded along with the Chatham-Kent Fire Department responded to Rondeau Provincial Park for a report of a swimmer in distress in the water.
They say a 25-year-old male, who had fallen off an inflatable raft, failed to re-surface.
On Sunday, August 29th, 2021, at approximately 2:30pm, the Ontario Provincial PoliceUnderwater Search and Recovery Unit, along with members of Chatham-Kent OPP and the Elgin County OPP Marine Unit, recovered the body of the missing swimmer in the waters of Lake Erie out from beach #2 of Rondeau Provincial Park.
The coroner attended the scene, and a post mortem examination has been scheduled for tomorrow, August 30th, 2021, in London.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year old Yuriy Zhlobitskyy of Barrie.
