The Town of Kingsville is opening a Cooling Centre at the Kingsville Arena starting Wednesday, July 15th, 2020.
The Cooling Centre offers a publicly accessible, air-conditioned place for residents to rest indoors and will run weekdays from 10am to 3pm.
“We recognize that extreme heat is associated with negative health impacts ranging from heat stress to heat stroke. As such, during periods of hot weather, the safety of all residents is our priority,” said Kingsville Mayor, Nelson Santos. “COVID restrictions and emergency orders have limited opportunities to cool off, and we’re hoping our Cooling Centre will provide some relief during humid summer days.”
Anyone attending the Cooling Centre is required to sanitize their hands and complete a self-assessment questionnaire before entering. They must also wear a mask while inside the building.
The cooling centre will be cleaned twice daily, as per Windsor Essex County Health Unit recommendations and hand sanitizer will be available.
