The Unemployed Help Centre is set to open their second Drive Thru Food Hub on Thursday, April 16, 2020 in the West End in Windsor.
It will open on the grounds of St. Michael’s Adult Secondary School located 477 Detroit Street.
It will be open every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 am to 2pm.
This hub will give west end residents easy access to a prepacked food hamper by driving to the location and receiving the food by opening their truck while remaining in the car and maintaining physical distance.
A walk-up area will also be available for those receiving food on foot using a conveyor to maintain social distancing.
Since the opening of the east end food hub on Tuesday, March 31st located at 6955 Cantelon Drive, we have provided food to 3,823 unique individuals and families representing 1,247 households.
With Windsor west having the highest number of children living in poverty, the UHC expects a vast surge in food bank usage and is asking those with the financial means to contribute to these efforts by donating to www.uhc.ca.
