Lakeshore announced additional measures to encourage social and physical distancing and reduce opportunities for the spread of COVID-19 through the closure of our regional and
community parks.
The following parks and playground equipment are now closed:
- Atlas Tube Centre
- Lakeview Park
- West Beach and Belle River Marina
- Comber Park
- Geralyn Tellier Perdu Memorial Park
- Leffler Peace Park
- Millen Park
- Optimist Park
- River Ridge Park
- Stoney Point Park
The town says that people are permitted to walk through the park keeping social distancing in mind; however, they are not allowed to gather, picnic or use pavilions, playground equipment, playing fields, basketball courts, etc. Lakeshore recommends children not play on any playground equipment to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
“This is not the time to be gathering and socializing in parks or at home,” said Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain. “It is unfortunate we need to take these additional measures, however, it is necessary in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We need to stay home and only go out if absolutely necessary. Let’s all do our part and together we can get through this.”
