Four new villages will join this years 44th annual Carrousel of the Nations.
The Caldwell First Nation, Italian, Lebanese, and Mexican Villages will take place in Leamington joining 20 others that will take place all over Windsor over two weekends.
“Our hope is that visitors experience as many new traditions and immerse themselves in as many new cultures as possible”, explained Carrousel of the Nations Co-Chair Allison Johnson, “Families and friends can take in 3 or 4 villages together and really get a sense of the diversity of our area. We want that tradition to keep growing as well- the idea of ‘carrouseling’”
Today’s conference featured displays and demonstrations from the villages, spread across the foyer of the Windsor International Aquatic Training Centre. Multicultural Council Executive Director Kathleen Thomas explained the significance, “From its beginnings, Carrousel was about travel and movement; about visiting new places and people. We want the community to go and be a part of all that our cultural organizations have to offer.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to ‘Carrousel’ over two weekends first from Friday, June 14th to Sunday June 16th, and again from Friday June 21st to Sunday June 23rd.
The four new villages in Leamington will all take place on Saturday, June 15th.
