The Windsor Police marine unit will join numerous agencies from both Canada and the United States in a planned training exercise along the Detroit River on both Saturday April 8th and Sunday April 9th, 2017.
The lead agency for this operation will be HMCS Hunter, which is the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve unit based in Windsor.
Over this time period police say that the public may observe elevated numbers of military, law enforcement and emergency service vessels and personnel jointly conducting a variety of search and rescue drills / maritime safety and security drills on and around the waterways from the south end of the Detroit River through Lake St. Clair.
If any member of the public was to observe what they perceived to be a marine emergency not related to this exercise over the specified time period, police say they should still contact 911.
