Asking one question led Suzanne Allair of Amherstburg to win a $50,000 top prize with Instant Crossword.
“When I was at the store I noticed there were no Crossword tickets in the display,” shared Suzanne while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where she picked up her winnings. “I asked the retailer if there were any Crossword rickets available and it turned out a new batch had just arrived. I’m so happy I asked because my winning ticket was from that batch.”
Suzanne scratched her ticket at home. “I was sitting in the living room, watching some television, when I started to scratch my ticket. I was uncovering a lot of words so I flipped the ticket over to see if I won anything.” At first, Suzanne thought she won $10,000. “I counted the number of words and realized I had uncovered 11 words which means I won $50,000!”
Suzanne and her husband of 45 years drove straight to the store. “I handed my ticket to the retailer. The terminal froze and the retailer came around the counter, screaming and yelling with arms stretched out to give me a big hug!”
Sharing with her children is at the top of the list of things Suzanne plans to do with her windfall. “They will receive money gifts. I also plan to treat myself and my husband. We love to have a good time so we will definitely be traveling – a Caribbean Cruise for sure. Finally, we live right on the water and it’s high time we got a boat. Plus more dinners out! I do most of the cooking at home and it’s time somebody else cooks for me,” concluded Suzanne.
The winning ticket was purchased at Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Sandwich Street in Amherstburg.
