Amherstburg Police are looking for assistance in identifying a thief.
Police say that during the early morning hours of July 8th, 2016 an unknown male suspect entered numerous vehicles and garages along Lakeside Drive. Eight incidents have been reported, but police say that many more are expected.
Video surveillance in the area captured the suspect inside a motor vehicle. Based upon this footage, the suspect can be described as Male/White, average height, thin build, wearing a baseball cap, long baggy light-colored t-shirt, and baggy pants (possibly blue jeans). The suspect may also be driving a silver/grey vehicle.
Pocket change was obtained from the vehicles, while a 50” television, sports memorabilia, and two shotguns, were among the items stolen from the garages.
While inside a garage, the suspect came upon a locked gun safe. The suspect was able to locate the key nearby, and gained access. Despite many other available firearms inside the safe, the suspect only took the two 12 gauge shotguns.
