GECDSB Summer Programs Begin Next Week

It may be the last day of school, but next week, more than 2000 students and 120 staff will be back in class in one of eight summer programs offered by the public school board.
Camp Wonder returns for seven hundred 6 to 10 year olds. This 3 week session, which provides an equal portion of academics and recreation, will be at 31 locations. It begins Monday, July 4th and runs through July 22nd.
Reaching Ahead, which gives recent Grade 8 graduates an opportunity to earn their first high school credit is being offered at 5 sites for 130 students. As well Moving Forward, a math and literacy program for Grade 6s and 7s has 60 students registered. Those programs begin July 4th and run through the 29th.
There are also Co-op, E-learning, and full credit course opportunities for high school students as well as the traditional credit recovery program.
A number of students are also involved in Focus on Youth which provides summer employment with the GECDSB Facility Services department or with community partners offering children’s summer camps.
