Both Amherstburg and Essex are getting provincial funding for new electric vehicle charging stations.

The funding is part of a Ontario wide effort to invest $20 million from Ontario’s Green Investment Fund to build nearly 500 electric vehicle charging stations at over 250 locations in 2017.

Amherstburg will see $65,592 for one station while Essex will get $252,820 for four stations.

The level 3 charging stations use a 480 volt system and can charge a vehicle to 80% in about 30 minutes.
