Vincent Massey Secondary School hosted Windsor’s first “hackathon” dubbed MasseyHacks, Saturday morning.
The hackathon, which was planned by and made for high school students, lasts for 12 hours where students can work individually or with a team to program work that will be shown at the end of the event for the chance of winning prizes related to programming and acceptance to larger hackathons.
Over 100 students signed up for MasseyHacks. Students were assisted and taught by mentors, as it was an all experience levels event. Programming of all kinds was encouraged, from mobile app development, game development, web development and much more.
Another hackathon has been planned by MasseyHacks on May 20th to 21st. This will be the first Canadian high school hackathon that is a member of Major League Hacking, as it will run for 24 hours.
