The Canadian Transit Company, operators of the Ambassador Bridge, have purchased the former Forster High School property.
The transaction closed on December 22nd.
The Canadian Transit Company says that they will be making the entire school available to community groups/clubs and non-profit agencies for their use free of rent. The only costs to the users will be for their portion of taxes, insurance and utilities.
“We do not want this building to sit empty” says Stan Korosec, Director of Security and Canadian Government Relations. “By allowing charitable groups and other non-profits a place to conduct their business at little cost to them will breathe some life back into not only this building but to Olde Sandwich Towne as well. The gym is also in very good shape and we see a possibility for its use by local youth sports teams”..
Canadian Transit Company says that they are in discussions with several prospective tenants who are very excited about the possibility of relocating to the former high school. Any interested organizations should send an e-mail to [email protected].
In addition, they have also acquired the former BFI property on Felix Avenue. That property will be utilized by the CTC maintenance department.
