An investigation is underway into a massive fire Mayson Machining located at 3706 Sandwich in West Windsor.
Crews were called to the U-shaped building around 9pm Monday and found smoke and fire coming from the building on their arrival.
Windsor Fire says the building is used to manufacture foam seats for the auto industry.
Employees working at the time discovered the fire and everyone escaped safely.
The Hazmat unit was also on scene in different parts of the area monitoring the air.
Workers at the factory told windsoriteDOTca that the building had a large quantity of highly flammable plastics and polymers in the production area — the part of the building that was first seen engulfed in flames.
Tome could not confirm what was inside the building and could not say if anything burning inside the building was producing noxious fumes.
A fire investigator from Ontario Fire Marshal office will be attending later today to start an investigation.
Tecumseh Fire had sent one unit for mutual aid standby to Windsor’s Station 7 Lauzon, and LaSalle Fire sent a firetruck to Station 5 on Cabana, while most of Windsor Fire had their units at the scene.
