The University of Windsor’s not-for-profit campus and community radio station CJAM 99.1 FM launched its annual Pledge Drive today with a goal of $30,000.
The Pledge Drive is the only event that the station takes to their listening community for support just to keep the lights on and pay for the small staff of station employees.
The station features a variety of both music and information programming in more than 10 languages. Earlier this year, the station received approval to boost its signal power to 2,084 watts, making it available to many more listeners.
The station says that it has a focus on becoming increasingly relevant to campus through campus sports coverage, two shows for international students, another focusing on research being done on campus, and additional shows that speak to everything from student activism to legal issues.
In addition they provide public service announcements for campus events as well as events well beyond campus, such as Windsor Pride.
