Falling Trees Hit Two Moving Cars, Storm Topples Trees Limbs Across Windsor

A fallen tree branch blocks the north sidewalk at Shepherd and Hall as lightning strikes to the southeast.
Two cars were hit by falling trees during Friday evening’s severe thunderstorm.
In one incident, a car was minivan was struck while driving down Cameron Avenue between University and Wyandotte. In the second, a car headed westbound on Riverside Drive was hit by a falling tree branch.
No serious injuries are reported in either incident.
Across Windsor, trees were toppled and branches came down on cars, roads, sidewalks and in yards. Fallen trees took out power in the 700 blocks of Church and Dougall, and a fallen branch cut power to Devonshire Road and Willistead Crescent in Walkerville.
Heavy winds also toppled trees from Windsor to Amherstburg.
At the Shores of Erie Wine Festival in Amherstburg, a tent collapsed. Minor injuries are reported.
