The town of Tecumseh has lifted its emergency, mandatory evacuation of the town.

The town had originally asked residents and businesses in the vicinity of the Bonduelle Plant, located at the corner of Tecumseh Road and Lacasse Boulevard, to leave the area.

Around 1300 residents between County Road 22 to the south, St. Thomas Road to the north, Lesperance Road west to Manning Road were informed around 9am that they needed to leave.

Tecumseh Fire said around 9:45am that there was a small ammonia leak at the fire scene.

Two evacuation shelters had been set up, one at Tecumseh Arena, and the other at St. Joseph’s High School.

Town officials say the shelters will be closing.

All residents can return to their homes.

Firefighters remain on the scene of the fire at the Bonduelle Facility.

Road closures in the immediate area of the fire remain in effect. The public is asked to avoid the area.
