Mattress Blaze Closes Walker Road

Windsor firefighters have extinguished a fire at a residential/commercial building on Walker Road.
Crews were called before 11am to the 3100 block of Walker and found smoke coming out of the building.
Firefighters had the blaze knocked down within minutes. Walker Road was closed to southbound traffic at EC Row and northbound before Sydney.
Officials say a mattress caught fire in an apartment unit, but the exact cause is undetermined.
The blaze caused smoke and water damage to other residential units as well as a business on the first floor.
Damage to building and contents of the units is estimated at $100,000.
No injuries were reported.
