Thoracic cancer surgery will continue in Windsor.
This morning, Teresa Piruzza, MPP for Windsor West, issued the following statement:
“I am pleased to confirm that Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) will now be designated a Level 2 Thoracic Cancer Surgery Centre and that cancer care funding – base and incremental amounts – will continue. This means residents in the Erie St. Clair region can continue to receive high-quality thoracic surgeries in Windsor.
The Hon. Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long Term Care, has informed me that WRH has received this Level 2 designation based on the strong case we brought forward for Windsor’s unique circumstances. I would like to thank the Minister for her attention and assistance on this important community issue.
I’d also like to thank David Musyj and his team at WRH for their help and responsiveness with this issue, while we worked through it together.
I said from the beginning that I was committed to working towards a solution that was in the best interests of my community and we’ve done that. I remain steadfast in my commitment and responsibility to ensuring the best quality of life for the people of Windsor and Essex County.”
