The University of Windsor Lancers and the Western University Mustangs will face-off at the 2014 SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival on Monday, December 16th at Comerica Park, as one of the festival’s first events.
The game will replace the previously scheduled game between the two teams that was scheduled for this Friday at South Windsor Arena.
“We are thrilled to be able to participate in this unique outdoor sporting event,” commented University of Windsor athletic director Mike Havey. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our student-athletes and something I know they’ll remember forever.”
More than 250,000 people are expected to descend on Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers, for the SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival, an outdoor celebration of hockey that will start in mid-December. The infield of the Tigers’ home ballpark will be turned into a hockey rink and will feature games between teams representing every level of hockey.
In addition to the Lancers-Mustangs game, the SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival will also feature American Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, NCAA, high school and youth games throughout the month of December.
