At its meeting on October 16th, the Public School Board heard a recommendation from Director of Education Warren Kennedy to close Forster High School at the end of June 2014, and now a community effort to save the school is beginning to emerge.
A public meeting will be held on Thursday November 8th at St. John’s Parish Hall located at 3294 Sandwich Street West starting at 7pm. Organizers say that this meeting will provide important information in advance of the Board’s meeting on November 19th that will deiced the final fate of the West end school. Organizers say that a full house is needed at both meetings.
Forster High School just celebrated its 90th anniversary this past June. Should the school close, the students would be moved to nearby Century High School.
