As the ACWR welcomes a new member to their thriving team, Alana Bartol Cultural Animator, exciting events are in the near future for Windsorites.
This position allows the long-standing artist to combine her creative talents and strong educational background in creating a platform for the community and artists alike. Keeping busy with her own community involved artistic practice Bartol works with local Detroit artist Emily Linn collecting broken glass from various sites across Detroit and creates something magnificent, stunning jewellery. With this in mind, she hopes to generate a creatively inspired environment where groups combine their various backgrounds and create something equally inspiring.
Starting off with an information session March 14th 2012, over 50 people attended with paper and pen in hand! With so many grants being offered by the Ontario Arts Council, Bartol’s position is to inform Windsor’s community about the opportunities available and suitable for each and every candidate. From giving artistic direction to editing your proposals, she is here to help. Big plans for this small city, and I think Windsor can handle it. With an upcoming event in mid May still in the works, keep your calendars open and follow-up by subscribing to arts notes!
With up to $10,000 available, running around to get those signatures and reference letters seems more than worth the effort. For more details please visit the Ontario Art Council’s website, or simply check out the article on the ACWR website reviewing and linking great notes about the information session you may have missed!
