artsVest Workshop Kicks off Wednesday at Willistead Manor

Investing in Windsor’s creative community will take a step forward on Tuesday with the launch of artsVest at Willistead Manor followed by an all day workshop for cultural organizations on Wednesday.
This program is funded by the Government of Ontario, The Ontario Trillium Foundation and Canadian Heritage aims to connect arts cultural groups and businesses to spark corporate engagement in the arts at a local level. It is coordinated through Business for the Arts, a national non-profit organization of business leaders.
Windsor is one of five communities selected to participate in the artsVest Ontario program. Elliot Lake, Midland, North Bay, Ottawa are the other Ontario communities who received funding.
The one hour launch on Tuesday kicks off 2 pm. Regional business leaders, professionals, municipal leaders and cultural organizations are invited and registration is required. Mayor Eddie Francis will be in attendance.
The artsVest Workshop will be offered from 9 am to 4pm on Wednesday at Willistead. Cultural organizations are invited to register to learn about tools to help them secure and nurture long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with local businesses. It will also cover artsVest application procedures.

“We know that artsVestTM has been a transformative experience for many communities” explained Jan Wilson, Executive Director of Recreation and Culture. “The City of Windsor has recently formed the Cultural Affairs area to coordinate and advance cultural planning and initiatives, and to bring together resources and programming. The artsVestTM grant is a significant achievement in moving our long-term goals forward.”
Partners in the artsVestTM project are the City of Windsor, Windsor Essex Chamber of Commerce and the Arts Council of Windsor & Region. Support for the Windsor program has come from The Downtown Mosaic (DWBIA), Workforce Windsor Essex, Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island.
